Dance, choreography


Started her dance education in her hometown in Brazil and continued with it worldwide. At the same time, she also studied linguistics and received her master’s degree in Cognitive Linguistics. Since 2003, she works as an independent dancer, pedagogue, and choreographer in Germany.
She works for and with renowned choreographers and directors. She joined the Daniel Goldins Ensemble at the theatre in Münster and danced at the Gerhart Hauptmann Theater in Görlitz/Zittau under the direction of Gundula Peuthert. In 2013, she received the graduate scholarship of the state Saxony for artistic master class at the Palucca University of Dance in Dresden (Palucca Hochschule für Tanz). In 2014, she started her training to become a Somatic Movement Educator © ‐Body Mind Centering ° © ‐BMC. In her research, Helena Fernandino examines the intersection between dance and cognitive linguistics, with focus on somatic movements approaches within temporary dance during dance education. Her work as a dancer and choreographer involves video dance, site specific performances and interventions in the public space. Her performances ‘Unort’, ‘Amparo’, „you don’t know what i don’t know“ and „um2räumen“ were shown in Dresden. Together with Wagner Moreira, she founded the platform C.O.R.E. Creating Opportunities of Research and Exploration. It stands for the development of different projects, productions, workshops and shows in Europa and Brazil, including the field of mixed-abled arts.
